Emirates Greeks website has been developed with the
aim of providing a forum focused on the needs of the
Greek and Cypriot community living in the United
Arab Emirates and neighbouring countries.
The creators and management hope to provide useful
information, advice and support to the growing Greek
and Greek-speaking community in the region through
this site.
Members of the community are encouraged not only to
use the site but to also contribute with content,
suggestions and feedback to help make this site as
personal and useful to the community as possible.
For those of you who are aware of, the Emirates
Greeks social forum started through the Yahoo group
and the recent expansion into Facebook. This site is
intended as one step further to provide more
networking, support and advice, news and commentary
as well as links to ‘home’ in order to help the
community grow and members to support one another
while so far away from home.
Hrach Kalsahakian, the creator of this
website, has been the founder of the Emirates Greeks
forum, has developed the Emirates Greeks newsletter
and is a well known and active supporter of the
community throughout his years of involvement.
Through his experience at the Greek Embassy and now
at the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (Middle East
Office), he is in an excellent position to provide
news, information and advice to our members. From
his present position at the CTO he is able to
leverage his knowledge of Cyprus , Greece and the
Middle East and his language skills in both Greek
and Arabic to forge close ties with the UAE
community as a whole.
Eugenia Papadopoulos, editor, is also
well-known to many community members from her long
residence in the UAE and her active involvement in
the Emirates Greeks social networking. Even though
she has recently relocated to Cyprus , she continues
to have close links with the UAE and many of the
community members, and hopes to share her own
knowledge of the Middle East as well as Cyprus and
Greece . Being a seasoned Human Resource
Professional and in her present role as HR
Consultant and Trainer, Eugenia is well-known for
her in-depth knowledge of the UAE and Middle East
business and legal environment, and has often been
called upon for advice on any employment related
matters.
